Windows XP Internet Repair

First off lets start with some Basics for testing your broadband internet connection.

  1. Go to Start
  2. Click: RUN
  3. Type: CMD
  4. Type these words in the command prompt: ping google.com
  5. A good ping will be like box: A
  6. A bad connection or no connectivity will look like box: B

If you get "PING REQUEST COULD NOT FIND HOST " then the problem is your Modem or Router if applicable.

  • Check your wiring to make sure everything is connected.
  • Check your Modem for the ONLINE light and make sure it's on solid if it is not contact your service provider
  • Check your Router for the Status Light and the WLAN and WAN lights The WLAN is for Ethernet and WAN is Wireless Area Network.

Second: If you passed the ping test try these Steps

  1. Go to Start
  2. Run
  3. Type CMD
  4. In command prompt type: ipconfig /release (Figure: A )
  5. Press enter
  6. Then type: ipconfig /renew (Figure: B)
  7. Press Enter
  8. TEST INTERNET

Third: If your internet is still not working follow these steps

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Go To Tools
  3. Click Internet Options
  4. Click the Connections TAB
  5. Click Setup Button
  6. Click Next Twice
  7. Click Setup My Connection Manually then Next
  8. Select the appropriate setting for your ISP Click Next
  9. Then Click Finish
  10. Test Your Internet

 

Fourth: Make Sure you Proxy Settings are correct.

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Go To Tools
  3. Click Internet Options
  4. Click the Connections TAB
  5. Click LAN Settings
  6. Make Sure AUTOMATICALLY DETECT SETTINGS is the only thing checked
  7. Click OK

 

Fifth and Lastly : If nothing above works I believe you have some type of Virus or Spyware Blocking you from the net. I recommend you USE THIS FREE Macrovirus Scan to detect Your Internet Connection Problem.
